Toddler Curriculum Overview

Toddlers are learning all the time.  We provide them with many safe ways to explore and learn new skills in thinking and talking.  Our quality care is developmentally appropriate and gives the guidance and nurturing that helps children develop their minds and bodies while making great strides socially and emotionally.  Some of the areas covered are:

Language Development - Toddlers are learning words quickly and need to be given a lot of opportunities to use their developing language skills.  Talking, listening, questioning and adding to what the children are saying are some of the ways we enhance these skills.  We use books, pictures, music and other activities to help toddlers learn new words and to talk about what they do, see, feel and think.

Physical Development - Toddlers love and need physical activity.  We provide daily play and exercise, indoors and outdoors, so that the children can use and develop large and small motor skills and coordination.

Creative Development - Art, dramatic play, music and building (block) activities stimulate creative development and expression.  We provide many cr eative materials to be used every day in many ways.  Creativity develops the senses, imagination and language.

Social Development - Toddlers use their developing senses to learn about the world around them.  This is the main way we experience the world throughout our lives.  We focus on nature and the people and places in and around our environment to help our toddlers begin to recognize and appreciate the world around them.
